Selkirk is the oldest village in Walpole Township

History of Selkirk, Ontario

Selkirk was settled around 1800 making it the oldest village in Walpole Township. This picturesque town at the edge of Lake Erie was (and still is) an important centre for farmers. At one time Selkirk was the site of a mill, a fishery, an apple evaporating factory and a famous hotel, the Bluewater.
